Preparing your Home for a Puppy

A wriggling bundle of joy explodes into your home. Watch out, it's your new puppy, and she is in everything around them interested. Unfortunately, what she wants to smell, eat or chew, may not result in the safest things for them, and even cause serious injury or death. Before your new puppy comes at the front door, you must check to your home and take some simple steps to a catastrophe.

Prepare your home for your new puppy is very similar to baby proofing a house. LookYour home in puppies level. What will hit your dog in a position to? What she could jump up and hurt yourself? Which plants you have at puppy level? Can she pull everything down on your head? Go room to room and make note of the following potential hazards:

1) steps. Some puppies are not very coordinated and could fall down the stairs easily. Invest in dog gates, child gates, or even to limit the puppy access to the stairwells to.

2) ElectricalCords. Dogs explore their world with their mouths instead of their hands. Puppies will chew on all the interesting thing on the ground, including a live electric cable, the risk of electric shock.

3) Furniture. Your puppy will chew on your furniture, but you may prevent that with Bitter Apple spray, or behavioral training. If your dog eats enough of the wood from the furniture, it always risks intestinal injuries by splinters.

4) household cleaners. Just like youwould hold toxic cleaning products out of the reach of a toddler, you should do the same for a puppy.

5) Try your dog when they monitor outside. Puppies do not know enough to eat to bite a snake or a toad, and to fear poisoned. Keep an eye on your dog, so they do not run away with the car, or even be taken directly stolen from your garden. The puppies are trusting little creatures and could be killed by a wandering older dog or a coyote.

6)Leave your dog alone in a car in warm weather. Heat builds up in a car very fast, opening with a window. In some states it is against the law to leave a dog in the car during the warmer months.

7) Keep your dog in a crate or a harness, a safety belt fastened in the car on the road. A small dog can be a projectile during even a minor accident resulting in serious injury or death.

8) Automobile liquids are deadly for dogs. Gasoline, motorOil and antifreeze can kill your dog.

9) puppies like to eat stretchy things that smell like their people, like socks, stockings, shoelaces and hair ornaments. All these things can hurt your puppy, intestinal tract, and can be a trip to the emergency-call veterinarians.

10) Keep human medicines and vitamins away from your dog. What is good for you, can not be good for your puppy.

A little prevention will save you and your dog a lot of trouble later. With commonSense and a sharp eye, you can stop a potential threat to puppies before it happens.

General Places To Take My Dogs This Spring and Pet Auto Travel Safety

Thank goodness winter is almost over. The kids and the pets may love the snow, but not me. My fingers go numb when I clean the snow off my car. Warming up the car seems to take forever. The roads are terrible and even dangerous. And I have to dip into my savings account just to pay the heating bill.

But now that spring is almost here, it's time to get out of the house and go places! And since the dogs have gained a little weight over the winter due to inactivity, I will take them with me. But that will be such a burden is, you say. "What happens if some of the places you want to go will not allow dogs?" or "What if the dogs do not still hold its own in the car?"

True. Not all the places I'll go dogs allowed, but there are many others found I can go, that is. As the weather is nice, I can walk into a park, camping, on the lake or the beach, visiting family or friends, or take a nice road trip. And I know the perfect solution, the dogs do not fared well inthe car. To keep them at one point in the vehicle, there are some products that I can use. The cheapest and simplest is the car seat belt dog. Dog seat belts in all sizes and are relatively easy to put on a dog.

To use the animals to the animal seatbelt, I can carry it around the house for a while. Then I can to places that are nearby. Going to the park, beach or lakecould only be a short trip and this place Pets allowed - as long as they are on a leash, of course. Many places have even described parts of a park just for dogs.

Then I can start going on longer trips, like camping. Most campgrounds allow dogs, but I'll check in advance before I go. And sure, when I visit my family and friends, I can take the dogs. You will not mind. It's better than the dogs with strangers in a boarding kennel or alone at home withsomeone coming by once in a while to feed them and let them outside. If the place I want to visit is only a few hours away, I can drive and use the pet auto seat belts for the dogs. There will be rest stops along the way that I can stop at and let the dogs get a drink and go potty. And if the trip is a little longer and I have to stop for the night, there are several hotels that allow pets for a small extra fee. I will bring the dogs' kennels for in case I need to leave them alone in the hotel room while I go out to eat or visit the gift shop or something.

No matter where I go, I need to make sure I bring the dogs plenty of water, their leashes, and doggie bags for picking up their waste. For longer trips I also need to bring their food, carriers, and toys. My dogs always have their tags on. I make sure they are always up to date on their shots. And if they are on medication, I make sure to bring that with me as well.

For longer distant travels, I can even an airline flight with the dogs. Some airlines use a pet as long as the temperature is not too hot or too cold. I must check with the airlines to see what is needed. And do I need to check on the dog by the veterinarian to ensure that they are healthy enough to take the trip. An unhealthy animal is unable to cope with stress.

Other activities, where I take my dog visits to outdoor gardens, visiting ranches, go wine tasting, going to outdoor barbecues, golf, fishing, biking, hiking, or boating. Not all gardens, wineries, golf courses and state parks are allowed dogs, but many. As long as I clean up my dogs, are often very open to pets. No matter what I decide to do this spring, I must refer to the sites in advance to ensure that animals are in order. If not, the dogs have either at home or in the hotel.

The dogs are a part of my family, after all, so I should try to includethem in at least some if not most of my spring activities. It won't be any more expensive than it would if I were to pay someone to take care of them while I was gone. And the dogs are so much fun to have around. They're good company, and they love to travel, meet new people, and visit new places.

Remember that these restrictions are primarily for the safety of your pet to protect him from larger animals, which may consider him a tasty snack.

Bring several lines. A good alternative to leashing your dog on a campsite is a portable pen outdoors. This is a pen that you set up any place you can go that your dog the freedom of movement without the riskof him wandering off to places he should not go.

Once you've covered all the country traveling with your four-legged friend can be a great experience. It is a shame to leave him at home if you are traveling. Why not share the experience of the street with your dog?

Traveling With Your Dog in the Car This Holiday Season?

The holiday season is here and it's time to visit family. Some of you have family nearby, while others maybe a few to several hours. For those of you who have a long way to go, you probably want to take your dog. Your dog is part of the family after all. So, if you are traveling with your dog in the car for a long drive, here are a few tips for the journey easier and safer for you both.

Some dogs just love it in the carwhile others do not. Before traveling with your dog in the car, check with your vet. Make sure that your dog can be healthy enough for the trip or if it would be best if the dog at home or a boarding kennel. Or your vet may recommend keeping a bit quiet for your dog while driving, if your dog tends to get nervous in the car.

You also have your veterinarian if your dog has added tags, and possibly even an identifyingMicrochip inserted. This applies to the case, your dog will wander during a pit stop, or your dog while you are away from home in your destination.

Depending on how long you are traveling with your dog in the car can, you want to have your dog's food and water handy. Comfortable pet travel bowls, it would be easy to give your dog food and water while making a pit stop. If your dog tends to be sick in the car, you may not want to giveto eat them. Be sure to talk to your vet about it.

Be willing to make for the pit stops, not only you but also your dog. You do not want a dog in a car accident. If you are afraid something might happen, it would be best if you had a car seat cover or even a blanket over the seat. Handi-wipes are for cleaning up messes and eliminating some smells great. Make sure you put your dog on a leash can be if your dog from the car. Also keep some dog waste bags on hand. Picking up after your pet is not just a courtesy, it is a requirement in some places.

The most important thing for traveling with your dog in the car is a pet auto safety belt holding facility such as a dog. The last thing you need during the trip may be wet or icy roads is a distraction caused by your pet. Some dogs tend to and back from the front directly onto the back seat or Attempt in the lap of the driver obtained. A dog seat belt will help keep your dog on the back seat. Summer Traveling With My Dog

This is a story about a trip I did with my dog this summer. This is an information story, an insight into what you need to consider if your pet while traveling is available. My dog will 's safety in the car envisaged. I had to know where they make pit stops on the road. And I had to know what it would allow hotels to stay.

Sephi is my dog's name, short for Persephone. Sephi is a 55-pound dog, part GermanSchaefer, part of Labrador, part chow, part border collie etc. She loves to ride in the car. I do not go always take them with me in the car during the summer, when it is in the park, but I needed to go to St. Louis for business. As a female I think does not like traveling alone, too far from home. So I decided to take with me as Sephi "watchdog". It is a four hours drive from Kansas City to St. Louis, and 99% of the trip would spend on the highway.

Before he left, Iensured Sephi's tags were readable, and that they are adequately secured on her collar. Sephiroth is not the type to run away the dog, but I'd rather take a chance. Your tags not only her name and my phone number, but they also have your veterinarian's telephone number. The big dog essentials needed for this trip included Sephi's leash, her dog seat belt, water and their water bowl, dog food, doggie bags for picking up their waste, and (a pet carrier that is) and her dog bed. Sephi was wearing her seat belt dog the whole time she was in the car. The dog safety belt use is simple and comfortable place for them to carry on. The dog is a belt as a belt worn. A belt extends from the back of the harness and container castles in the seat belt. When Sephiroth is not in the car, the strap can be disconnected and replacedwith a rope so they would not have worn off and the belt.

I have my own food and snacks, or only went to places where I get food quickly, so I would not have to Sephiroth in the car. It was over 90 degrees outside, and could be even hotter in a car. Other pit stops were necessary. Since the drive was mainly on highway 70, there were several rest stops along the route. These service stations had no toilet facilities only for me, but they also hadDesignated areas for pets Sephi. Most service stations in the United States have shown PET sites. Although it was obvious that many pet owners do not pick up after their pets, I used to get the doggie bags after Sephiroth. Not only that I do as a courtesy, but I did it to avoid getting into trouble with any law enforcement authorities, the chance to be in the area. The last thing I need when away from home, get a citation for a regulation violation. A bad thing aboutTraveling alone with a pet was that if I use the toilet, I had no choice but to Sephiroth in the car for a few minutes. There were signs posted at rest stops for this clearly prohibits dogs from entering the building Sephi could not go into the toilet with me.

Sephi drank water, while the rest of tops, but do not eat them until we are to our goal. This is because Sephiroth is inclined to a little car sick if she has food in her belly. Our trip was only fourHours, so they do not starve for very long. When we in St. Louis we had to find a hotel. Know from experience that many hotels welcome pets, I have not any research beforehand. As a result, I visited two other hotels before I become an established that both parties had accepted dogs and Wi-Fi access. The hotel we stayed at was the Red Roof Inn. It was pretty cheap and convenient. I brought Sephi-makers in the room. This gave her the comfort of familiar surroundings, but the carrierwas necessary for another reason. Most hotels require that if your pet alone in the room that allow the animal to be confined. I'd take care of business, and I would not be able to take it with me. So she stayed in her career, when I left the hotel. Hotels have this rule for two main reasons. First, the hotel accepts pets not want the destruction of their property. Sephi is not destructive, but some dogs are so in the hotel makes the rule apply to all dogs. Secondly, if hotelsPersonnel must be the room that they do not want to escape from the animal or to give the intruder bite. Before your pet to travel, you can create a hotel, the first to find pets allowed. Be sure to read their pet policy, making sure that you can make in accordance with the guidelines.

All in all, the road trip a success. I felt safe to travel alone with my "watchdog". Sephi was safely carry belt with her dog. She was always hydrated and had a lotPotty breaks at rest stops. And she was comfortable during their stay at the hotel. Traveling with a pet is not a drawback if you remember certain points. Research hotels and hotel groups, pet policies prior to travel. Bring the animal carrier, if you leave the hotel without having to plan your pet. Make sure you know that your dog has its day and bring their leash. Make sure your dog has a vehicle restraint such as a dog car seat belt or a PetCar seat. Bring get something after your pet. Bring plenty of water. And last but not least, enjoy your trip!
